- Registration opens at midnight. Just hearing it sounds okay, right? Most college students stay up late anyways. BUT when you think about it, not ALL the students that go to the school are from that time zone! Right? Which means...midnight for the school could be 2 in the morning for the student back at home for the summer waiting to register for her classes who had been watching her wonderful nieces and nephew all week and was really tired and had fallen asleep 10 minutes before registration opened!!! Just saying...it could happen...
- There are never enough classes for the students. We are told to take certain classes, but when we go to register for the class...they are all taken! How do you expect a school of 13,000 to fit in 5 classes? None of which are in the early morning, might I add, which is when SOME of US would like to take our classes so we have the rest of the day to work, do homework, see friends, have a life...but NO!!!! They are all set for ridiculous times such as 3-5 or worse! 7-10 (Okay...this is really a night class for those that are off track at BYU-Idaho...but I thought I'd add it in for dramatic purposes.)
- There are 2 kinds of students in the world of registering. There are those that plan ahead. (aka ME!) We figure out which professors we want. Research them to make sure they teach in our learning styles. Look for specific professors that we've already had that we loved and know they will teach us what we need to know and will help us grow in that class. We find these teachers and pretty much...in essence, plan our ENTIRE schedules around them, so that we may benefit from them. Then there are the students that just click on random professors. They don't KNOW anything about them. Why would they? They just want to get it over with without having to use their brain for the whole process that some of us (again...aka ME!) stress over and worry about. They take up the classes that those of us have thought about for hours on end, debating if that's what we want to take and when we (me again) go to add that class, we can't...because it's full...of students who don't care!
On a happy note, I was able to get into one of the classes that I wanted after someone used that wonderful 'Drop Class' button. Thank you whoever you may be. I am currently waiting on one teachers class to open up, so I can take math with my roommate. That would be sweet! Other than that, I'm registered for 16 Credits for the Fall '09 semester. All between the times of 9-1:45, Monday through Friday. I'm good...and yet, so dead this semester. There's no way I'll be able to balance all this. I don't have that time management thing down quite yet. But hey...if you ever need a professional on procrastination...Look no further!
If you have any complaints on the registration process...feel free to leave me a comment about them!
